“Ancorché mai vergine, tutto si mostra preconfezionato nella fotografia oggettiva di Vincenzo Monticelli Cuggiò. Strutture, impianti, segnalazioni, congegni distintamente preesistenti e persistenti: approntati con meccanico orgoglio nell’attesa di rimettersi in funzione, oppure decaduti e tentennanti lungo i margini di ogni verosimile non farcela più. Si direbbe operazione di ready-made visivo; sennonché qui la decontestualizzazione e la variazione di status sono replicate in un sottilissimo effetto di rovesciamento: giustapponendosi a quelle dell’elemento originario raffigurato (tipiche di qualsiasi foto scattata dall’umana specie) le altre dell’elemento nuovo raffigurante (concepibili solo per il raro genio di artisti eccellenti).”

Structures, installations, signals, devices distinctively pre-existent and persistent: set up with mechanical pride, waiting to start functioning again, if not decayed and wavering along the margins of any probable “can no longer make it.” You may call it a visual ready-made operation; except that here the decontextualisation and status-change are replicated in a very subtle reversal effect: those of the original element depicted (typical of any photo shot by man) are juxtaposed to those of the new depicting element (conceivable only for the rare genius of great artists).”
